Donation: David

A couple of months ago Julie Dawson, one of our regular open evening attendees, brought two guests along with her. One of her guests, David, was impressed with some of the glass bottles we had on display and said he had some at home that he would like to donate to us.

True to his word David phoned me and arranged to drop the bottles off at the archive. I was amazed at both the quantity and variety of the bottles in the collection. David explained that many years ago when he was a Clerk of Works he oversaw the lining of an old tip near Bolton with clay to make it watertight ready for more modern use. As part of this work the old Victorian tip was cleared out for the clay lining to be installed and these bottles came out of that old tip.

Thanks you David for taking the trouble to not only donate the bottles but bring them along to the archive.
