Donation: Newspaper collection from Sheila Blacklock

A recent addition to the archive is the newspaper collection built up by David Blacklock. We were contacted through the website by Sheila Blacklock who lives in Plymouth. Sheila offered her late husband David’s collection to us so long as we could collect it from Plymouth.

David had built up a very impressive collection of newspapers and Sheila wanted them to go to a good home where they would be appreciated and used. Having collected them from Sheila’s home in Plymouth and got them to the archive, we took a sample of the newspapers and photographed them to show their range and diversity. A quick look showed that they range from modern (a picture of Theresa May on the cover) going back to 1914 (coverage of the First World War).

We are incredibly pleased to receive such a large collection and look forward to cataloguing them into the collection and making them accessible to researchers.
